Brendan Rodgers rules out signing ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers hints that the club are no longer interested in signing former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted that the club's pursuit of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is over.

The 32-year-old, who left the Catalan giants in the summer, was rumoured to be closing in on a free transfer to Anfield.

When asked by newspaper AS if any Spanish players would be moving to Merseyside in the coming months, Rodgers said: "No."

Recent reports claimed that Valdes had refused to undergo a trial to prove his fitness, but the shot-stopper's agent Gines Carvajal has rejected the speculation.

Valdes, who was denied a summer move to Monaco due to fitness issues, has not played a game since March due to a knee injury.
