Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted that the club's pursuit of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is over.
The 32-year-old, who left the Catalan giants in the summer, was rumoured to be closing in on a free transfer to Anfield.
When asked by newspaper AS if any Spanish players would be moving to Merseyside in the coming months, Rodgers said: "No."
Recent reports claimed that Valdes had refused to undergo a trial to prove his fitness, but the shot-stopper's agent Gines Carvajal has rejected the speculation.
Valdes, who was denied a summer move to Monaco due to fitness issues, has not played a game since March due to a knee injury.
