Brendan Rodgers indicates that he will reinforce his Liverpool squad in January.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hinted that he will make signings during the January transfer window.

The 39-year-old believes that his side's 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday highlights the fact that they need to reinforce their squad.

"There is going to be steady progress and there are going to be steps forward, like in the last few weeks, and a step backward like yesterday," he told reporters.

"We looked at the first six months to assess: we know we need some support and hopefully we can get that in.

"We understand the process as well but the most important thing is to learn from it (the defeat). The thing we've learned from Saturday is that you can't ever be complacent.'

Liverpool are currently 12th in the league table with 22 points from 17 matches.
