Philippe Coutinho reportedly does not have a release clause in his Liverpool contract amid claims that Barcelona are eyeing a £65m swoop for the Brazilian.

Philippe Coutinho reportedly does not have a buyout clause in his contract amid claims that Barcelona are keen to make a move for the Liverpool star.

The Brazilian has become the Reds' key man over the past few years, and has heavily impressed under Jurgen Klopp since the German coach's arrival at the club in October last year.

Reports in Spain have claimed that Liverpool should prepare for a transfer battle as La Liga giants Barcelona are planning to launch a £65m bid for Coutinho in the summer.

However, according to ESPN, the Premier League club will be in a strong position should Barcelona come calling as there is no release clause in their star player's contract, which does not expire until 2020.

The report adds that the 24-year-old, who has scored six goals and produced five assists for Liverpool in all competitions this season, is content with life at Anfield.

Coutinho signed for the Reds from Inter Milan for £8.5m in January 2013.
