Liverpool are reportedly holding out for £12m from Rangers for loanee Ryan Kent, which will price the Scottish club out of a move.

Rangers will reportedly have to break their transfer record if they wish to sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool on a permanent contract.

The Gers are said to be keen to snap up the 22-year-old once his loan deal expires following an eye-catching spell at Ibrox.

Kent was brought to Glasgow by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard last July and has gone on to score five and set up six more in 21 Scottish Premiership matches.

According to the Liverpool Echo, however, the Reds are unlikely to sanction another loan move and they are after more than £12m for the attacking midfielder.

That is the same figure Bournemouth splashed out to sign David Brooks from Championship side Sheffield United last summer, which Liverpool believe is a fair reflection of the transfer market.

The report indicates that Rangers are not expected to match the Merseyside outfit's valuation, meaning that Premier League and Championship clubs could be alerted to his availability.
