Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge 'to earn pay rise'

Daniel Sturridge could be offered a new deal by Liverpool, according to a report.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will reportedly pocket a pay rise that would see the England international's wages double to £140,000 a week.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on offering the forward a new deal to bring Sturridge closer financially to the contract awarded to top scorer Luis Suarez.

According to The People, the Anfield hierarchy are believed to be worried that the ex-Chelsea striker could become a wanted man among Europe's top clubs if he has a successful World Cup and they are keen to tie him to a long-term agreement.

It is also reported that Jordan Henderson is in line for a new deal with a likely pay increase, but full-back Glen Johnson will be offered a lesser deal if he wants to stay with the Reds.

Sturridge was on the scoresheet as Liverpool beat Cardiff City 6-3 in the Premier League on Saturday.
