Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly in regular contact with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and has given the go-ahead for an £87.5m bid this summer.

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a club-record £87.5m deal to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig this summer.

The 22-year-old has established himself as one of German football's brightest prospects over the past two seasons, with his form earning him a regular place in the Germany starting lineup under Joachim Low.

Werner has scored 18 goals across all competitions to help Leipzig mount another Champions League challenge in the Bundesliga this season, leading to interest from Liverpool.

German outlet Bild reports that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is in regular contact with Werner and is willing to give the green light for an £87.5m bid for the striker when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Such a deal would surpass Liverpool's previous transfer record of £75m, which they paid to bring Virgil van Dijk to the club in January.

Liverpool have already agreed to sign one Leipzig player at the end of this season, with Naby Keita having put pen to paper on a 2018 move last summer.
