Liverpool have reportedly identified Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira as a possible transfer target this summer.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his midfield options after seeing an injury crisis in that area threaten to scupper his side's chances of success towards the latter stages of this season, with Trent Alexander-Arnold being deployed as an emergency central midfielder on a couple of occasions.
The Reds have already secured a deal to bring Naby Keita to the club this summer, but they are expected to lose Emre Can at the end of his contract and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss the start of next season through injury.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Torreira is on Liverpool's radar following a campaign which has seen him score four goals in 38 appearances for Sampdoria.
The 22-year-old's form has earned him a place in Uruguay's squad for this summer's World Cup, but Liverpool could face competition for his signature from Napoli.
The Serie A runners-up are considering replacements for Manchester City target Jorginho, and are also understood to have earmarked Torreira as an option.
