Fiorentina will keep Juan Manuel Vargas after Liverpool refuse to pay £12m for the Peruvian winger.

Fiorentina look set to keep hold of Juan Manuel Vargas after Liverpool have reportedly failed to match his £12m price tag.

The Reds were said to be interested in striking a deal for the Peruvian, while Bayern Munich have already had an £8m bid rejected.

Kenny Dalglish had reportedly taken steps to take the 28-year-old to Anfield, but it was unclear whether new manager Brendan Rodgers would follow suit.

However, Italian newspaper La Nazionale have now claimed that Viola will seek to keep the winger this summer.

Vargas, who has 39 caps for Peru, moved to the Stadio Artemio Franchi from Catania in 2008.
