Pepe Castro: 'Ivan Rakitic, Alberto Moreno still Sevilla players'

Sevilla president Pepe Castro says that Ivan Rakitic and Alberto Moreno are still Sevilla players.

Sevilla president Pepe Castro has insisted that Ivan Rakitic and Alberto Moreno have not yet been sold by the Spanish outfit.

Recent reports had claimed that Rakitic had agreed to join Barcelona, with a move expected to be completed before the World Cup.

Moreno, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool since the end of the season.

Castro has admitted that both moves could take place, but has denied rumours that the deals have already been completed.

"A lot has been written or published and heard of various radio programs, but I can say to them that as of today, Sevilla has neither signed any player for the coming season, nor sold any player. It's true that clubs are interested in our players, that's true and I don't know what will happen next week, but as of today, there have been no offers," Inside Spanish Football quotes Castro as saying.

"Obviously the team that was Europa League champions, has been through so much, because they were a good team, a good sporting unit, great player and it's only logical that they'll have suitors, but we can honestly say that we're calm and that Sevilla will have a very solid and competitive team next season.

"I don't have a crystal ball to know if we're going to sell players because some clubs can pay a salary that we understand is our of this world, which is why we would sell, but we're economically solvent, so we will not sell any player below their value."

Sevilla won the Europa League last season.
