Team News: Jon Flanagan captains Liverpool at Southampton

Jon Flanagan captains Liverpool in the absence of Jordan Henderson for Sunday's trip to Southampton.

Jon Flanagan has been named Liverpool captain for this afternoon's Premier League trip to Southampton.

The full-back will lead out the Reds in Jordan Henderson's absence as Jurgen Klopp makes three changes from the 1-1 draw at Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.

Flanagan comes in for the suspended James Milner, while further forward Joe Allen and Divock Origi take the places of Henderson and Roberto Firmino.

Hosts Southampton, meanwhile, show just one change from last weekend's 2-1 win at Stoke, with Jose Fonte returning from suspension in place of Matt Targett.

Southampton: Forster; Martina, Van Dijk, Fonte, Bertrand; Clasie, Romeu; Tadic, Long, Davis; Pelle
Subs: Stekelenburg, Cedric, Yoshida, Mane, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse, Juanmi

Liverpool: Mignolet; Flanagan, Lovren, Sakho, Clyne; Allen, Can; Lallana, Coutinho, Origi; Sturridge
Subs: Ward, Toure, Benteke, Henderson, Skrtel, Smith, Ojo
