Luis Suarez plays down title talk

Luis Suarez insists that it is too early for Liverpool to be considered as Premier League title contenders.

Luis Suarez has claimed that it is too early for Liverpool to be considered as Premier League title contenders.

The Merseysiders can move to the top of the table on Saturday if they beat Cardiff City at Anfield.

Despite the team's strong start to the season, Suarez believes that they will only be genuine challengers if their form stays consistent heading into the New Year.

"I think it's too early to speak about [the title]," the Uruguayan told the club's official website. "If we continue this level for the next two or three weeks, we can win the league or finish in the top four.

"After Cardiff, we have two big games and we can see where Liverpool could finish."

It was reported on Wednesday that Liverpool have opened talks with Suarez over a new contract.
