Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers has "no worries" over Joe Allen's dip in form

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that midfielder Joe Allen's recent dip in form could be down to recently becoming a father for the first time.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his admiration for midfielder Joe Allen but believes that the former Swansea City player has dipped in form.

The 22-year-old was a welcome addition to Anfield in the summer but has appeared to struggle in recent matches for the Reds.

"I think he's been terrific since he's been here but he's probably just dropped off a notch or so recently," the Liverpool Echo quotes Rodgers as saying.

"There are a number of reasons for that. He became a father recently, and obviously we know all the tiring things that kick in when that happens.

"If you're not resting and sleeping when you're travelling a lot, then all these factors can take a small percentage out of your game. But I've got no worries about Joe. He's a tough boy, mentally, and he will continue to improve here."

The Reds currently sit 11th in the Premier League table.
