Simon Mignolet: 'I don't worry about criticism, nobody is perfect'

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet insists that he does not worry about criticism that he gets from the fans.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has claimed that "there is no point worrying" about criticism following a less-than-convincing performance against Arsenal.

The Belgium international came under fire for conceding three goals in Wednesday night's 3-3 draw with the Gunners at Anfield.

Throughout his two-and-a-half-year career on Merseyside, Mignolet has faced plenty of criticism for failing to command his area on the pitch.

In response to the negative reactions, Mignolet told The Guardian: "If you concede a goal, it can be up to seven or eight mistakes leading up to it but, obviously, as a goalkeeper you have to accept it has gone past you.

"After that, you have to accept that the first question that will be asked by everybody in the stadium or around the world, will be, 'could the keeper have done better?' That's part of the job. You learn from that and there is no point worrying about that.

"Every time you concede a goal, you don't have to put a hammer to your head. Nobody's perfect and nobody is without mistakes. The only thing you have to make sure of is you keep improving."

Reports have claimed that Mignolet is on the verge of signing a new long-term deal at Anfield.
