John Hartson: 'Liverpool are real contenders'

Former Celtic striker John Hartson believes that Liverpool are genuine title contenders this season.

John Hartson has claimed that Liverpool are genuine title contenders following their 5-1 win against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Reds are currently six points off Chelsea in top spot in the Premier League, and the former Celtic striker believes that the Merseysiders' challenge is a real one.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Hartson said: "I think they've got to go down as title contenders now.

"The form that they're in, and the players that they've got, the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling has found some form.

"They have won 10 out of 11 at home I think, and you have to say that they have got to be up there."

Meanwhile, manager Brendan Rodgers has played down his side's chances.
