Joe Cole realises that he must work hard to win the Liverpool fans over and says that he wants to write new chapters in his career with the Reds.

Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole has said that he must win over the Anfield faithful after a false start in his career with the Reds.

The England international moved to Merseyside on a free transfer in 2010, but ensured a largely frustrating debut season.

However, the 30-year-old rediscovered his form during a loan spell with Lille last season and is now looking forward to the new season.

"Yeah, I've got to win people over – I know that," The Mirror quotes Cole as saying. "People have asked me if I wondered what happened after I joined, but I am only looking forward.

"Everything I have done in my career is in the bank, but I want to write new chapters. I want to be part of the revival of this great club and help make it successful.

"I have spoken with Brendan [Rodgers] and as far as I am concerned, I am here, I am looking forward to the season and we will go from there."

Cole scored six goals in 28 appearances for Les Dogues last season.
