Steve Bruce: 'Sebastian Larsson is a manager's dream'

Steve Bruce sings the praises of Sunderland's new signing Sebastian Larsson.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has praised the performance of Sunderland debutant Sebastian Larsson at Anfield this afternoon.

The midfielder cancelled out Luis Suarez's early opener during the second half to hand the Black Cats a point on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Larsson worked under Bruce when the latter was in charge of Birmingham City and the 50-year-old boss is delighted by the reunion.

"I'm delighted we've got [Larsson]," Bruce told reporters after the game.

"Of course he's one of those manager's dreams where he gets on with everything, left or right, and what a way to mark your debut with a spectacular goal like that.

"I had the good pleasure of working with him for three or four years and he's developed as a player and as a person."

The Swedish international joined Sunderland on free transfer after his Birmingham contract expired earlier this summer.
