Oussama Assaidi has said that he will be backing Stoke City when they take on his parent club Liverpool on Sunday.
The Reds visit the Britannia Stadium looking to maintain their charge for a top-four finish, while the Potters are in 12th and wary of slipping further down the Premier League ladder.
The 25-year-old winger said that he would "love" to face Brendan Rodgers's side, whom he joined from Heerenveen in 2012, but will be cheering his current teammates on from the stands.
"I would love to be involved in the game, but through rules and regulations that isn't possible unfortunately," he told the club's official website.
"I want Stoke City to win the game of course, because this is where I am playing my football at the moment, and for as long as I am here I will want us to win every game we play."
Assaidi has scored three goals in 11 league games this season.
