Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that his side want more trophies after their Carling Cup final victory over Cardiff City at Wembley Stadium.

The Reds won a dramatic penalty shootout 3-2 after the sides drew 2-2 in extra time.

"We always do it the hard way, but it doesn't matter how you do it as long as you get there in the end," said Gerrard.

"Credit to Cardiff, they made a real good game of it, but unfortunately there's always got to be one loser because they didn't deserve to lose today maybe.

"I think the important thing now is to enjoy this cup final and build on it. It would be stupid to just accept this. We want more."

The triumph is Liverpool's eighth in the competition.
