Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Watford

Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Liverpool ahead of their Premier League showdown with Watford on Wednesday.

Liverpool returned to the top of the table with a point from their trip to arch-rivals Manchester United at the weekend, but it may have come at a cost.

The Reds lost Roberto Firmino to a first-half injury - one of four players to make way in the first half of a disjointed match at Old Trafford.

Jurgen Klopp is also likely to be without a couple of defenders for Wednesday's visit of Watford - a match that Liverpool will be expected to win to keep hold of top spot in the Premier League.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their midweek showdown against the Hornets.

LIVERPOOL'S INJURY LIST

Dejan Lovren

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: February 27

Lovren lost his race to be fit in time for the Man United game and Klopp admits that he "does not think" the centre-back, out with a hamstring problem since January 7, will be ready to play a part against Watford.

Roberto Firmino

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Firmino hobbled off the field at Old Trafford with an ankle injury and his involvement in midweek seemed highly unlikely, especially with others pushing for a start, but scan results show no serious damage and he could yet play a part.

Joe Gomez

Status: Ruled out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 31

Gomez required surgery on his fractured ankle and has not featured since December 5. The England international, a regular alongside Virgil van Dijk in the first half of the season, is still about a month away from making a comeback.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Status: Ruled out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: March 31

Klopp recently suggested that Oxlade-Chamberlain might be fit in time for the quarter-finals of the Champions League but, with Liverpool's place in that round now hanging in the balance, a more relevant target for his return may be the end of March - almost a full 12 months after suffering ligament damage.

Andy Roberson

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Arm
Possible return date: February 27

An arm injury suffered at Old Trafford leaves the Scottish left-back as a slight doubt to face Watford, though Klopp is optimistic of having him available.

Naby Keita

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: February 27

The midfielder has been struggling with an illness bug but he is believed to have taken part in training on the eve of the Watford match.
