Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists that the club's European destiny is in their own hands.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his team are determined to qualify for the next phase of the Europa League despite being held 2-2 by Young Boys this evening.

The Reds could now face a must-win trip to Udinese in their next European match with the Swiss side now level on points with them.

"We didn't control the game well in the final few minutes. But it's another point and we can still control our own destiny. It makes it harder than we would have liked," BBC Sport quotes Rodgers as saying.

"I'll always pick a team to win each game. Listen, we want to qualify and if we have to go out to Udinese and win then so be it."

The Anfield boss went on to praise several of his players' individual performances during the match, including goalscorers Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Cole.

"Jonjo Shelvey was outstanding as a striker, and it was nice for Joe Cole," he added.

"He's worked hard in training, he knows it's difficult for him, he's been away on loan but he's a fighter and that is all he can do."

Raul Bobadilla and Elsad Zverotic were on target for Young Boys to secure a point.
