Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has suffered an injury while on duty for the Croatian national side ahead of their Euro 2016 qualifier against Bulgaria.

Croatia's official Twitter account has confirmed that Gordon Schildenfeld has replaced the defender in the squad, which suggests that Lovren is expected to have a spell on the sidelines.

The tweet said: "Gordon Schildenfeld will replace injured Dejan Lovren in Croatian squad for @EuroQualifiers. Good luck with recovery to @DejanLovrenLFC6."

There are no details as yet regarding the injury or the extent of the problem, which Lovren is believed to have suffered while in training.

The 25-year-old has started all of Liverpool's Premier League games and Champions League matches this season following his summer arrival from Southampton.
