Preview: Leicester City vs. Charlton Athletic

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between league leaders Leicester City and struggling Charlton Athletic.

Leicester City will be looking to continue their march towards the Championship title when they host Charlton Athletic at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes have a commanding eight-point lead at the top of the table and could see that grow even further with second-placed Burnley and third-placed Derby County coming up against each other.

They returned to winning ways last Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town, extending their unbeaten run in the league to 13 matches, during which time they have dropped just six points.

Nigel Pearson's side have been even more impressive at home, amassing a league-high 39 points in front of their own fans and losing just one game at the King Power Stadium all season.

The hosts will be without the suspended Paul Konchesky for the match, while Sean St Ledger remains sidelined through injury.

Leicester will come up against a Charlton side brimming with confidence after a fine week in which they nicked an important victory against Queens Park Rangers before progressing to the FA Cup quarter-finals three days later.

They remain in the relegation zone of the Championship, but their fate is in their own hands as they trail Millwall by a solitary point having played three games fewer than the Lions.

The victory over QPR ended a run of four straight league defeats, and Chris Powell will be hoping that they can record back-to-back Championship wins for the first time this season.

However, Leicester away is no easy task, especially for a team that has not won in their last eight league games on the road and have picked up just 11 points on their travels all season.

The Addicks will once again be without Leon Cort, Chris Solly and Rhoys Wiggins through injury, but Powell is likely to make a number of changes to his side from the FA Cup match on Monday.
