Southampton have reportedly set their sights on signing Brest left-back Romain Perraud, amid interest from Leeds United.
The 23-year-old made 36 appearances in Ligue 1 last season and showed his attacking threat as he scored three goals and provided seven assists for his Brest teammates.
Current Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand has announced that he will be leaving St Mary's when his contract expires this month, and the Saints are hopeful of securing Perraud, who is valued at £9m.
The Daily Mail reports that Southampton will have to rival fellow Premier League outfits Leeds and Newcastle United if they are to sign the France Under-21 international.
Leeds have been linked with Perraud as they look to replace exit-bound Ezgjan Alioski, and the Yorkshire club have expressed their confidence in sealing a deal with Perraud.
The defender, who still has four years remaining on his contract, joined Brest in 2019 and has gone on to make 61 appearances for the club.
