West Ham United forward Nicky Maynard has reportedly become Leeds United's number one summer transfer target.
Whites manager Neil Warnock is keen to improve his attacking options during the current transfer window and was understood to be chasing Brighton & Hove Albion's Craig Mackail-Smith.
According to The Sun, Brighton were willing to swap Mackail-Smith for Ross McCormack, but McCormack's reluctance to make the move south has ended any hope of a potential deal.
Leeds are expected to make an official approach to West Ham for Maynard, 25, later this week.
Maynard, who moved to Upton Park from Bristol City for a fee of £1.65m in January, scored three goals in 16 appearances for the Hammers last season.
