Leeds United sign Werder Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald

Leeds United announce that they have completed the signing of Werder Bremen goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald for an undisclosed fee.

Goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has left Werder Bremen to sign a three-year contract with Leeds United.

New head coach Thomas Christiansen is currently in the process of reshaping the first-team squad at Elland Road, and that has seen him bring in a new stopper for an undisclosed fee.

Wiedwald has spent the past two seasons with Bremen, and he made 25 starts in the Bundesliga during the most recent campaign as his team finished in eighth place.

The 27-year-old brings to an end his second spell with Bremen after previously starting his career at the club, while he has also spent time with MSV Duisburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Wiedwald will now compete for the number-one position with Robert Green and Marco Silvestri, although it appears unlikely that the Yorkshire outfit will begin the upcoming campaign with three experienced goalkeepers.
