New Leeds United owners will 'buy back' Elland Road stadium

Leeds United's ground Elland Road could soon be owned by the club for the first time in nine years.

Leeds United's home ground Elland Road could soon be owned again by the club for the first time in nine years.

The club's managing director David Haigh is said to be heading a consortium hoping to conclude a deal to buy a controlling 75% stake in the club from current owners GFH Capital.

According to Sky Sports News, a buy-back of Elland Road for the last 94 years is also high on their agenda.

Leeds initially negotiated a buy-back clause when they sold the stadium for £8m to help ease massive debts in 2004 to Manchester businessman Jacob Adler.
