Noel Hunt has said that returning to the Premier League is top priority for Leeds United.
The Irish striker completed his switch from Reading yesterday and will link up with old boss Brian McDermott at Elland Road.
Leeds fans have been deprived of top-flight football since 2004 but Hunt believes that there is enough quality within the squad to end that drought.
"[Promotion] has to be the number one target," Hunt told Sky Sports News. "The club have showed intent, they have spent a few quid obviously got in a few players and I am sure there will be more to come.
"The big thing for this season is to get back into the top league in the country and this place has got all the foundations and all work to do it, so hopefully we can.
"I know a lot of these boys know what they are in for as they have been in this league long enough and lot of them want a crack at the top table and hopefully we can do it."
Leeds finished 13th last season.
