Sports Mole's Championship Team of the Week

It was a good weekend for those at the top of the Championship as seven of the top eight teams registered maximums on matchday 26.

Derby County were the only ones not to triumph as they fell to a crushing late defeat at home to bitter rivals Nottingham Forest in Saturday's lunchtime kickoff.

Defeat saw the Rams drop to third as Ipswich Town regained second spot behind leaders Bournemouth, who are one point clear at the top.

At the bottom, Blackpool are now nine points from safety after suffering yet another away defeat, this time at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Here, Sports Mole chooses its best XI from the weekend's action, in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, as well as highlighting the biggest numpty and best goal.

Dimitrios Konstantopoulos (Middlesbrough)
Tomorrow will make it a month since Boro last conceded. They kept their 13th clean sheet of the season in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town to move within a point of third-placed Derby.

Joshua Vela (Bolton Wanderers)
Bolton put an end to Sheffield Wednesday's three-game winning streak with a 2-1 win at Hillsborough, with youngster Vela setting up one of the two goals.
Harlee Dean (Brentford)
The Bees held onto their top-six place with a narrow victory at improving Brighton & Hove Albion. Dean did a bit of everything at the back.
Tommy Elphick (Bournemouth)
Bournemouth aren't ready to give up top spot any time soon. They recovered from last week's defeat to Norwich City with a 2-0 win at Rotherham United, with Elphick netting the crucial opener right on half time.
Russell Martin (Norwich City)
Two wins out of two for the Canaries under Alex Neil and club captain Martin set up one of the Canaries' three in the first half as they edged out Cardiff City.

Lee Tomlin (Middlesbrough)
Tomlin scored both of Boro's goals against Huddersfield. The first was a vicious strike from the edge of the box before he sealed the win late on with a simple finish into an unguarded net.
Luke Murphy (Leeds United)
Leeds made it two draws in a row by holding in-form Birmingham City at Elland Road. It looked as if it would be another loss for the strugglers until Murphy's late strike.
Daniel Tozser (Watford)
The biggest win of the weekend came at Vicarage Road as Watford hammered floundering Charlton Athletic 5-0. Tozser provided one assist and then put the icing on the cake with a sweet free kick late on.
Ben Osborn (Nottingham Forest)
What a time to score your first senior goal. Derby-born Osborn delivered a bullet of a strike in injury time to send the Forest faithful bonkers at the iPro Stadium.

Noel Hunt (Ipswich town)
After joining the Tractor Boys permanently, Hunt made his first start in blue and produced two goals inside the opening quarter of an hour as Ipswich ended a tough week on a high at Millwall.
Odion Ighalo (Watford)
On his 10th league start of the season, Ighalo scored his sixth and seventh goals in the Hornets' rout of Charlton.

Numpty of the Week

Joe Lewis and Darren O'Dea: Blackpool still haven't won away from home this season after they crumbled late on at Wolves. After going 1-0 down, Lewis and O'Dea produced a calamitous mix-up to allow Benik Afobe the easiest of debut goals.

Goal of the Week

Corry Evans (Blackburn Rovers) vs. Wigan Athletic: Blackburn left the DW Stadium aggrieved to have not taken all three points against Wigan Athletic, but they scored the goal of the weekend with Evans's delicious curler.
