Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy welcomes international break

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy admits that he is looking forward to giving his players an extended rest during the international break.

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has admitted that he is looking forward to giving his players a rest during the international break.

The Tractor Boys are unbeaten in their last seven Championship games following Sunday's 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest, which has moved them up to sixth in the table.

McCarthy says that he is pleased with the opportunity to give his players an extended break before they return to action.

"I am absolutely delighted," he told the Green Un.

"It gives the lads a break. We have a squad of about 23 but we have only ever been working on a squad of 20, and they have all put a shift in, so it gives the lads a chance to have a break and rest their legs."

Ipswich's Championship programme resumes against Blackburn Rovers on October 18.
