Ipswich Town duo Mick McCarthy, Daryl Murphy claim Championship's November honours

Mick McCarthy and Daryl Murphy claim a November double for Ipswich Town in the monthly Championship awards.

Ipswich Town have claimed a double in November's monthly Championship awards, with Mick McCarthy clinching the manager's prize and Daryl Murphy being named Player of the Month.

The Blues managed just one win in 10 games in September and October to drop from the top two down to mid-table, but reignited their promotion hopes with 10 points out of a possible 12 last month.

McCarthy's side scored 12 times in four games, winning three, and half of the goals were netted by Irish international Murphy.

The 32-year-old was last season's top scorer in the Championship with 27 goals, but failed to score in 13 games this season before breaking his duck with a first career hat-trick in the 5-2 win at Rotherham.

He followed that with one against Wolverhampton Wanderers and two more against Charlton Athletic as Ipswich steadied the ship.
