Inter Milan have confirmed that they have opted against offering midfielder Esteban Cambiasso a contract extension at San Siro.
The 34-year-old will see his 10-year Nerazzurri career come to an end in tonight's trip to Chievo after he was declined the opportunity to extend his spell.
However, technical director Piero Ausilio has hinted that the veteran Argentine may be offered a different role at some point in the future.
"Cambiasso will not renew his contract because we haven't offered him a renewal," Ausilio told reporters.
"He waited for our decision until now, and for that he must be thanked, but I'm convinced that in his future he'll have a role at Inter."
Cambiasso won five Serie A titles with Inter as well as a Champions League crown under Jose Mourinho back in 2010.
