Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti has claimed that Walter Mazzarri's experience was the key factor in him being named the club's new manager.
The Nerazzurri appointed the former Napoli coach on Friday night following the sacking of Andrea Stramaccioni.
"For now this change is due to the fact that we'll have a tough year and I thought we needed a coach with the experience of Mazzarri," Moratti told the club's official website.
"That doesn't diminish the fact that we rate Stramaccioni as a talented coach, with potential, and I'm sure he'll become one of the best coaches in Italy."
Mazzarri guided Napoli to a second-placed finish in the table last season, while Inter finished in ninth position.
