Hull City manager Steve Bruce has defended changing his entire starting lineup for their Capital One Cup fixture with Leyton Orient.
Despite making 11 alterations, Bruce saw the Tigers edge past the League One outfit with a 1-0 victory, and he has admitted that his priorities lie with Premier League survival this season.
The 52-year-old told reporters: "You don't want to undermine the competition, of course you don't.
"You want to give your squad a chance because the difficulty of playing in the Premier League is that it makes this the ideal opportunity to play the squad.
"They've played this evening but we all know that the Premier League has got to be the priority. We are new in there and we've got to make sure we do everything we possibly can to stay up."
Hull have picked up three points from their opening two games in the Premier League.
