Sporting Kansas City have failed to extend their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference after slumping to a disappointing defeat away at Houston Dynamo.
Calen Carr fired the hosts ahead on 25 minutes following a clever pass from Will Bruin.
Andre Hainault then felled Jacob Peterson to provide Kei Kamara with the chance to level the scores from the penalty spot three minutes before the break.
Kamara converted emphatically, however the game then swung massively in the favour of Houston moments later, as Peterson Joseph was shown a straight red card for an awful tackle on Carr.
The match was delayed as Carr received treatment, however the Californian recovered and netted the winning goal 11 minutes from time, steering home Brad Davis's low cross from six yards.
