Marlon Harewood joins Hartlepool United

Veteran striker Marlon Harewood joins League Two side Hartlepool United on a free transfer.

Hartlepool United have completed the signing of former West Ham United striker Marlon Harewood.

The 34-year-old had been a free agent ever since his release by Bristol City a fortnight ago, but Colin Cooper has now convinced him to join his ranks at Victoria Park.

He has been handed the number nine shirt and will go into the squad for Saturday's match against Fleetwood Town.

The centre-forward started his career with Nottingham Forest, before having spells with 11 different clubs, including West Ham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
