Conference Premier roundup: Halifax Town suffer first defeat

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday afternoon's action in the Conference Premier as Barnet capitalised on Halifax Town's defeat to become the league's new leaders.

Halifax Town have lost their advantage at the top of the Conference Premier table after they suffered a 2-1 loss at Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

A point would have been enough for the Shaymen to retain first place, but a last-minute goal from Ellis Harrison condemned the Yorkshire side to defeat.

Barnet are the new leaders on goal difference after goals from Lee Cook and John Akinde earned the Bees a 2-0 victory over Southport.

Gateshead have moved into third after they came from behind to beat Chester FC, with Woking moving into fourth position after an impressive 2-1 triumph at Wrexham.

Kidderminster Harriers make up the top five after a Jack Bryne goal gave them all three points at Dover Athletic, while Forest Green Rovers extended their undefeated streak to six matches with a 1-1 draw at Welling United.

Macclesfield Town also remain unbeaten after they eased to a 2-0 win over Eastleigh, who were overtaken in the table by Aldershot Town as they recorded a 2-1 success over Grimsby Town.

Alfreton Town remain without a win during the current campaign after they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Braintree Town, while AFC Telford United continue to struggle after promotion last year as they lost 2-1 at Dartford.

Nuneaton Town recorded their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Altrincham, while Torquay United made progress up the table after they secured an impressive 3-1 win away at Lincoln City.
