Eintracht Frankfurt overcome a resilient Greuther Furth in this evening's Bundesliga encounter to move closer to the Champions League places.

Eintracht Frankfurt have beaten Greuther Furth 3-2 in today's Bundesliga clash to move closer to the top four.

Frankfurt came from a goal down but had to survive a late Greuther rally to clinch their first win in six games.

The home side started well, pressuring Frankfurt from the off and forcing a couple of early corners, the second of which led to a goal.

Thanos Petsos's curling delivery found Nikola Djurdjic free at the far post and the Serbian striker made no mistake from three yards out.

Greuther almost doubled their lead 10 minutes later, but after saving a long-range effort, Oka Nikolov set the visitors straight onto the counterattack. Alexander Meier played in Takashi Inui, who fired in the equaliser from 20 yards.

The game settled down after that and although Petsos and Milorad Pekovic missed good chances for Greuther, the sides went in level at the break.

The second half began in end-to-end fashion just as the first. This time, though, neither side could find the back of the net until the 58th minute when the away team took the lead.

Stefan Aigner was able to sneak in at the back post to control the ball and fire past Max Grun.

Ten minutes later it was 3-1 when Meier picked up the ball outside the box after a rebounded shot and placed it into the left corner.

The home side responded immediately, forcing several corners in a row before finally Sercan Sararer found a couple of yards and curled the ball past Nikolov.

They were almost level two minutes later when Djurdjic met another corner, this time, though, the ball hit the post and bounced away.

Greuther continued to push for an equaliser until the very end but after surviving a couple of penalty shouts and numerous balls into the box, Frankfurt hung on for all three points.
