Everton boss Roberto Martinez: 'We need to strengthen the squad further'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez reveals that he intends to do more business in the transfer window as the squad needs to be 'strengthened'.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that he intends to add more players to the squad during this transfer window.

The Merseyside outfit have acquired the signatures of Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu, who has returned following a loan spell in 2013.

However, Martinez has insisted that he is not done yet in the transfer market, which closes on September 1.

"We're trying to build on what we've done in the last four windows," Martinez told reporters. "There's a couple of areas we need to strengthen, but we've got terrific youngsters, experienced players and it's a perfect mix. The focus is on the squad we've got and being ready."

The team are currently out in Singapore to compete in the Barclays Asia Trophy, which also includes fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Stoke City.
