Everton to pay £20m for Crystal Palace defender James Tomkins?

Everton boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly keen on securing a reunion with Crystal Palace defender James Tomkins, who could cost in the region of £20m.

Crystal Palace defender James Tomkins is reportedly the subject of interest from Everton ahead of the January transfer window.

Sam Allardyce has led a revival since his arrival at Goodison Park with four wins and one draw being recorded in all competitions, and Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka have found themselves on the bench due to the form of Mason Holgate in central defence.

However, according to The Sun, Allardyce wants to add Tomkins to his squad having previously worked with the 28-year-old at West Ham United and Palace.

Tomkins signed for the Eagles in 2016 and has gone on to make 31 starts in the Premier League in 18 months at Selhurst Park, but Allardyce appears keen to take the experienced defender to the North-West.

The Englishman still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, and it has been suggested that Palace would demand in the region of £20m for a player who has featured in their recent seven-match unbeaten run.
