Nikola Vlasic has shown sympathy towards Ronald Koeman after the Dutchman was sacked by Everton.
The Merseyside outfit parted company with the 54-year-old on Monday following a run of poor results.
The team have failed to live up to expectations following a summer of transfer spending, which amounted to more than £100m, as they have won just two of their nine Premier League games.
Vlasic, who was one of the manager's new signings, told 24sata: "I'm sorry that Koeman got sacked, because he bought me and we had a really good relationship, but that's football.
"Everton is a great club for young players like Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman, Tom Davies, me. We all get chances. I'm satisfied."
The Toffees, who are now under the temporary leadership of David Unsworth, are currently third from bottom in the table.
