David Unsworth "delighted" with point at Crystal Palace

Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth declares himself "delighted" after his side claim a draw at Premier League basement side Crystal Palace.

Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth has declared himself "delighted" after his side claimed a point at rock-bottom Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The Toffees twice came from behind to engineer a 2-2 draw against the Eagles and keep themselves out of the relegation zone.

The side still have just three wins on the board all season, however, but Unsworth believes that today's result gives their fans "something to shout about".

"That was a well-fought point," he told reporters after the final whistle. "We had to come back twice and we showed great resilience and desire. I am delighted with a point.

"We conceded two poor goals - our own downfall. To concede so early is always a blow but we came back strongly and this team has shown they have fight and desire.

"Three thousand of our fans turned out tonight and we gave them something to shout about. As for me, I don't know. Tomorrow is a good day off then we'll see what happens on Monday."

Next up for Everton is a home encounter with Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday night, ahead of a trip to Southampton in the league next weekend.
