Report: Everton want Ronald Koeman to replace Roberto Martinez

Everton will reportedly try to convince Ronald Koeman to leave Southampton for Goodison Park by offering him the club's biggest transfer budget in history.

Everton are reportedly keen to appoint Ronald Koeman as Roberto Martinez's successor.

The Merseyside outfit parted company with Martinez on Thursday following a three-year spell at Goodison Park.

The Spaniard came under increasing pressure from the supporters following a string of disappointing results, which has left Everton 12th in the table ahead of Sunday's final Premier League game of the season against Norwich City.

Frank de Boer is the bookmakers' favourite to take over this summer after he announced his departure from Ajax yesterday.

However, according to The Guardian, Everton's majority shareholder Farhad Moshri wants to lure Koeman from his post at Southampton by promising to offer him the club's biggest transfer budget in their history.

Moshri is expected to make a large sum available for transfers this summer, while the new broadcasting deal and money gained from player sales will add to the kitty.

The Dutchman joined the Saints in 2014, but has not yet signed an extension at St Mary's, despite his contract having just one year remaining.
