Ross Barkley: 'Everton showed a lot of confidence'

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley believes that the side showed "a lot of confidence" to secure a 3-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League.

Ross Barkley has said that Everton showed "a lot of confidence" in their 3-0 win over Southampton at St Mary's in the Premier League.

Romelu Lukaku scored a first-half brace before the midfielder added the third, giving Roberto Martinez their first win of the season after being held to a draw by Watford last time out.

The England international told BT Sport: "The lads showed a lot of confidence from the off. It's a credit to the backroom for getting us all together. The clean sheet is good for all the team. Gives us a lot of confidence. You know how good Lukaku can be. When he's playing like that he is the best in the league."

Everton host Manchester City next weekend.
