FA chairman Greg Dyke defends cut-throat gesture at World Cup draw

FA chairman Greg Dyke defends making a cut-throat gesture during the World Cup draw earlier this month.

Football Association chairman Greg Dyke has defended the cut-throat gesture he made when England's World Cup group was announced at the draw in Brazil earlier this month.

Dyke was caught on camera making the gesture when England discovered that they would have to get through Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica in order to make it out of Group D.

When asked by Sky Sports News if he regretted his actions, Dyke said: "No. It was a piece of humour. That's me. If you want a straight-laced suit, you can have a straight-laced suit. Or you can have someone like me."

The Three Lions will have to take on Italy in Manaus, which reaches scorching temperatures in the summer.
