Former Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier has expressed his shock in England manager Roy Hodgson's decision not to include Rickie Lambert in his latest squad.
The 30-year-old was not called up by the Three Lions, who are due to play Brazil in a friendly this evening, despite the withdrawals of strikers Jermain Defoe and Daniel Sturridge.
"Two of the strikers have pulled out injured since the squad's been announced," the Daily Echo quotes Le Tissier as saying. "If he wasn't in the first five, it amazes me that he's not the next one down the pecking order. You tell me another English centre forward who's been more effective than Rickie Lambert this season."
Lambert has netted 11 goals in the Premier League so far this season.
