England forward Jamie Vardy regrets alleged racist incident, has moved on

Jamie Vardy says that he regrets the alleged racist incident that saw him punished by Leicester City and that he has "moved on".

England and Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has said that he has learnt his lesson after claims that he racially abused a fellow casino goer in July.

Vardy was fined by Leicester and ordered to undergo a diversity awareness programme after the incident.

"I regretted it massively. I've learnt my lesson and moved on," Vardy told reporters.

"It was very uncharacteristic of me and that is why I wanted to meet the chap himself. We sat down and had a chat and just said it was literally silly, stupid.

"As far as I'm concerned I just want to concentrate on my football now and let my feet do the talking."

Vardy, 28, is the Premier League's top scorer with seven goals so far this season.
