Gary Neville has claimed that reports suggesting a breakdown in relationship with Roy Hodgson was to blame for England's poor Euro 2016 showing are "absolute bullshit".

It had been suggested by The Observer that Neville, who has now departed his role as assistant manager of the Three Lions, regularly questioned Hodgson's decision making when it came to team selection.

The former Manchester United defender was quick to hit back, however, demanding an apology from the publication over what he describes as false reporting.

England's search for a new manager and backroom staff is now underway, with Steven Gerrard thought to be among those being considered to take up the role made vacant by Neville.
