West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has revealed that his long-term target is to regain his place in the England squad.
Carroll has yet to feature this season due to a heel injury, but the former Liverpool targetman hopes that he can force himself into Roy Hodgson's plans when he makes his return later in the season.
The 24-year-old told the Daily Mail: "The lads did a great job and it's brilliant that England will be in Brazil.
"It also gives me something to aim at and, once I get back playing, I might have a chance of breaking back into the squad.
"The first objective, of course, is to get back playing well for West Ham. I want to do that because they've been so supportive but if England follows, that would be good, too."
Carroll has scored two goals in nine appearances for England.
