Phil Jagielka backs Harry Kane to impress

Phil Jagielka says that he expects Harry Kane to replicate his impressive club form at international level in England's forthcoming matches against Lithuania and Italy.

Everton captain Phil Jagielka has said that he expects Harry Kane to score for England in their upcoming fixtures against Lithuania and Italy.

The 21-year-old will be hoping to make his international debut for the Three Lions after being called up to the senior squad by Roy Hodgson for the first time.

He has scored 29 goals for Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions this season and Jagielka believes that he will be able to bring that form with him to the national side.

"A lot of people were probably expecting him to have a bit of slower rise, but he got to play a few games early doors in the cup competitions, especially in the Europa League," The Telegraph quotes Jagielka as saying. "His confidence has grown and grown. Maybe those odd occasions when you don't shoot, he has decided to shoot and fair play to him. He has scored in more or less every game he has played in.

"He is very clever as a footballer for such a young man. Normally you grow into that role and your runs and your positions you take up. Sometimes that happens a bit later on in your career, but Harry seems to find himself in the right place at the right time.

"Those little goals have given him the confidence to go and take shots from outside the box, so he has scored headers, he has scored tap-ins, scored from outside the box. At the moment, he is doing pretty well and hopefully he will get his chance over the next two games [against Lithuania and Italy]. Knowing how his form is, he will probably get a goal or so and keep his confidence really high."

Kane is the the joint-leading scorer in the Premier League this season alongside Diego Costa with 19 goals.
