Derby County cruise past Birmingham City

Derby County cruise past Birmingham City with a 4-0 win at St Andrew's.

Derby County cruised past Birmingham City with a 4-0 win at St Andrew's in the Championship this afternoon.

Jordon Ibe, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham, gave the visitors the lead when he escaped two challenges before rifling the ball high into the net on nine minutes.

David Cotterill fired in a long-range effort for the home side before the half-hour mark, but the strike was comfortably held by Rams keeper Lee Grant.

Martin doubled the Rams' advantage on 23 minutes when he fired in a free kick from the edge of the box.

David Davis and Wes Thomas had a couple of efforts for Birmingham before the hour mark, before Jeff Hendrick saw a shot blocked for Derby.

Craig Forsyth made the result safe with around 11 minutes remaining when he struck a right-footed effort into the bottom corner.

Johnny Russell then made it 4-0 late on when tucked away an effort into the bottom corner after Ibe had charged down an attempted clearance.
